The past few months, Titus has been doing some experimental drawings: working as an artist's model for several different persons with different levels of talent has put him in contact with several different techniques. Drawing is the most intimate, the most personal, and yet the most tricky, due to its intricacy.

He's sitting on the porch, a pad of paper on his lap, sketching the filigree of a spider web in the angle of a post and the railing...

Melou's approaching the porch, heading back from a stroll in the grounds, when he spots his friend. "Titus?"

After a long moment, he looks up, with a small, thoughtful smile. "Good day, Melou," he says. "You'll have to excuse my slowness to greet you: I've been rather busy with this sketch."

"What are you drawing?" Melou asks. He's in a good enough mood to manage at least some polite conversation.

He turns the pad around to show it to Melou. "I am sketching a spiderweb on the railing close by: it looked so intricate that it seemed like a worthy challenge."

He's gotten the threads of the web down pat, but the water drops left over from the morning dew look a bit tacked-on. He's still getting the hang of drawing water (which, typist can attest, is a devil to try and draw).

"'Doesn't it get boring?"

"It can get dull: I have been hoping... for a person to sit as a model for me," he says, somewhat hopefully.

"Oh," is all Melou can come up with in response to that. He's not sure he wants to model for Titus, but he doesn't want to just refuse, either. It would feel rude.
